So myself (George) and Sam decided to go up to The Photography Show in Birmingham to see some of the latest products and talks from fellow professionals and market leaders.
So an early start on the Tuesday morning to get into Euston station and catch the Virgin West Coast service to Birmingham international. Brought along the Nintendo Switch to keep us entertained on the journey and Sam beat me nearly every time in MARIO KART!
Once at the show, the first stall we saw was GF Smith. We use this brilliant company to produce beautiful storybook albums for our wedding couples and some beautiful wall art as well. Right opposite them was the massive Nikon booth. Now myself, Swain and Emma are all Nikon shooters and Sam used to be when he was a photography shooter. He’s now switched over to Sony which we find much better for filming with.
After a good look around all the booths (including Sony, DJI, Adobe and many more) we spotted a videographer doing a talk on the Sony stage and decided to sit in on that. Her story about how she became a wedding videographer was very intresting and almost identical to Sam’s story. We spoke to her after and she suggested a few bits of kit she loves and we decided to see if we could find these at the show at discounted prices.
So we purchased a new monopod, new 85mm cine lens and a second camera body (Sony A7Sii to match our other filming camera) from Wex Photographic at discounted show prices! We are now fully complete with kit to film all of our wedding bookings for this year.
Before coming home, Sam recommended a restaurant called Rub Smokehouse and Grill and decided to pop in there for (a very large!) dinner.
This was their famous “Kitchen Sink Dessert” which was full of brownie, cookies, cream, marshmallows and ice cream!
we had a very successful day and will be going back next year for sure!
